EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR MAKING DARTS AND DARTBOARD
Darts is a game which presents fun to whoever plays it and there are best darts on the market. To make darts and dartboard, you would need the following:
2. Glue (Tacky)
3. Paper straws
4. One large cardboard
7. Felt in different colours (Red, pink, purple, blue and orange)
9. Styrofoam balls
10. Velcro dots (Adhesive)
11. Sparkly tape
Making darts and dartboard requires you to be meticulous based on the fact that you would be working with measurements, and any slight mistake could be an obvious defect when the final result is ready.
STEPS TO MAKING A DARTBOARD
First and foremost, the felt which you would be using should be in the measurement 18 by 18-inch piece for the base, and for other colours, 9 by 12 inch sheets). So for the base, fold the coloured felt into half, and cut out a piece in the shape of a large heart.
For the rest of the felt colours, the first procedure should be repeated, with the first large heart being used as a guideline. Ensure that an approximately an inch is left between the colours, in order to provide much space for the darts to land.
Next, with the use of a marker, outline numbers 1- 4 on anther felt from the middle heart. From the second smallest heart, make use of the leftover to create a 5th one for the middle heart. For cutting out the numbers, small sized scissors would work well.
Smear the tacky glue on the edge of each of the already cut heart and fix them in successive layers. Also, use the tacky glue, and apply them to the numbers enabling them to be attached to the top edge positioned at the left of the layer of each heart, this should be done in an ascending order starting with 1 on the heart positioned on the external, down to 5 which is in the centre.
The next step would be to use a pencil to trace the heart on a piece of cardboard. Once this tracing has been perfectly done, use a scissors to cut it out. Then, fix the felt to the cardboard with the glue.
Cut some metres of the rope and fix it to the back of the cardboard alongside with a tape. At the completion of this, your best dartboard is ready for use.
STEPS TO MAKING DARTS
Making darts is not as strenuous as making a dartboard, so it should not take much time as making a dartboard would.
The first step is to use a 2-inch tape and cover the end of the straw. The tape should be folded in half, and used to cover the top.
Next step would be to cut the tape into a “V” angled shape, then make small cuttings in form of slits on each side, to form a feather. Clip each straw until they are about 5-inches long. For the arrow tip, fix the straw into the middle of a Styrofoam ball, and bond with a tacky glue.
To complete your dart, get five scratchy halves of Velcro (circular), and stick them round the Styrofoam ball, this would help to increase the chances of hitting the target.
